Some websites just show information. Others need to show energy. Shockout needed the second.

Shockout Dance Academy is known for producing high-level dancers across the North West, with a reputation built on creativity, discipline and professionalism. Their own words say it best… ‘A Step Above the Rest’. That standard set the tone from the start. Because if that’s the level of training, the website can’t feel static, flat or forgettable.

From the first conversation, one thing was clear. This wasn’t just about building a better website, it was about capturing a feeling. Movement. Energy. Presence.

Dance isn’t still, so the website couldn’t be either. Everything needed to reflect what Shockout actually is when you experience it in real life. We focused on creating something that felt alive. Not overcomplicated, just considered. Subtle animation was used throughout the site to mirror movement. Imagery doesn’t just appear, it builds. A highlight tone moves across the screen before revealing content, giving a sense of rhythm and flow as you move through the pages.

Text reveals gradually as you scroll, creating pace rather than dumping information all at once. Even the Instagram feed was designed to stagger content slightly, keeping that sense of motion consistent across the experience. None of it is over the top. But all of it adds up.

Fixing what wasn’t working

The previous website wasn’t built for how the academy actually operates. One of the biggest issues was the application process. It relied on users downloading a form, filling it out manually and sending it back.

That’s friction. And friction costs enquiries. The new system was designed to remove that completely, replacing it with a structured online application process that works properly for both the academy and prospective students. Simpler for them. Better for the business.

The result

What came out of the project was a website that finally matched the standard of the brand. Confident. Clear. Full of energy.

Something that reflects what Shockout stands for, rather than holding it back. Some brands say they’re a step above the rest. Others make sure everything around them proves it.
